SING O BARREN

SING O BARREN

MERRY MONDAY with Parris Bailey

Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord. Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. (Isaiah 54:1-3 KJV)

Sometimes God just comes down! He fills the room! Recently I bought one of my grandchildren, who was enamored with the planets, a light that cast stars on the ceiling. No matter where it shines you will see stars on it. Did you ever notice how the whole room seems to change? I had a night like that and it changed my life. I have probably told the story dozens of times so forgive me if you hear it one more time. I was pregnant with my last child and at that time we as a family would go every Friday to church prayer at 6:00am. To this day, I don’t know how we all did this, but the reward for going to prayer was breakfast at Burger KIng so the kids didn’t complain much. I was hugely pregnant and overdue to have our baby. When I woke up that early morning I realized I had a amazing dream or even a vision for it seemed so real. I saw as it were angels flying back and forth in front of my face and throughout the room and when they came close they would scream ‘BREAKTHROUGH”! BREAKTHROUGH TO THE RIGHT AND TO THE LEFT!” Then all would grow quiet as if they were traveling in a circuit, then would come straight up to my face again and repeat the process. “BREAKTHROUGH, BREAKTHROUGH TO THE RIGHT AND TO THE LEFT, STRETCH OUT YOUR TENT PEGS. ENLARGE THE PLACE OF YOUR TENT.” Later on that day, I went into labor and had our last child, we named her Grace. The wonderful thing about a God giving dream is that it lives on throughout your whole life. That dream has taken on many facets and meanings. It has now been 25 years later. Breakthrough is another name for my name PARRIS or Parez in Hebrews- it was also used in labor meaning the breaking through the waters. Many of you will at times be at a crossroad where God wants to bring deliverance and enlargement. The process is never fun but the reward is more than worth it. Maybe when you go to sleep tonight angels will begin to minister and blow grace and mercy over your life and your loved ones. God always changes the natural into the supernatural, we just need to allow Him to work and do his breaking over us! He will indeed give us GRACE for the long journey ahead. Many times Frank and I have found ourselves pinned in so to speak, but as we begin to shout GRACE at our mountains he always comes leaping and bouncing to us! Yes, he can bring BREAKTHROUGH in unbelievable circumstances.

Appetite for Pleasure

MAN’S APPETITE FOR PLEASURE

“Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes.
Isa.54:2

Have you ever wondered about man’s huge appetite for pleasure? Sometimes it seems like it has no limits to it. No matter how much money a person makes, how great their possessions are, or how many pleasurable experiences they have, it never seems to be enough. Actually that is the way we were created by God. We were created to need Him and nothing less will satisfy our hungry soul. A human being without Christ is in a perilous state, they have this unquenchable thirst for pleasure that can never be quenched until they drink of Christ and His living water. Jonathan Edwards spoke often of the pleasures of God and how only they could satisfy our thirsty souls. Listen to his observations about the abundant nature of the Lord.

“God being an infinite fountain of good is as it were infinitely communicative, or infinitely overflowing, and therefore the communication of how great abundance soever. “God is love”. His essence being love, He is as it were an infinite ocean of love without shores and bottom, yea, and without a surface. Noah’s deluge overflowed the mountains, but the deluge of God’s mercy is above the heavens. “Thy goodness is above the heavens”. And wherever there is that seems to be any obstacle, any meanness, any unworthiness, all is overtopped, overwhelmed, and swallowed up in the infinite deluge.”

You were created with an incredible capacity for pleasure, focusing our pursuits on the creation rather than the Creator only leads to incredible frustration. You will only be satisfied with the pleasures found in Christ Himself. There is no person, no job, no sporting event, no possession that can ever satisfy our appetites for pleasure, only God will do. Many Christians are frustrated trying to shut down the longing for pleasure in their hearts, instead we should stretch out our tents and expand ourselves for God. Open wide your hearts, let the King of Glory come in. This is what Jesus meant when He said He had water to drink that you know nothing about. This water is the overwhelming, infinite deluge found in Christ alone.
