What are these among so many?
I have been reflecting on our Fourth of July celebration over the last few days and am still amazed at all the Lord has done. The atmosphere of the event was a taste of the other side. I knew the night before it would be a special year. How did I know? It was the passion in the worship and the prayer that got my attention. The Lord is stirring the hearts of His people in anticipation of something great that is on the horizon. Feed the Multitudes was just a taste of the more that is breaking in on us. I knew it wasn’t just me because I saw the stunned look on the faces of some of the media that covered the event. Some of them commented about how shocked they were at the passion in prayer and ministry coming from the youth and young people. Keep your eye on this next generation, they are surely God’s barometer about things to come. Watchman Nee talks about the significance of God’s blessing on our limited resources. Here are some of his thoughts.
“The hopes of too many are still centered not on the Lord’s blessing but on the state of their treasury, the few paltry loaves in their own hands. What we have in hand is so pitifully little, and yet we keep reckoning with it; and the more we reckon the darker the prospect. My friends, miracles issue from the blessing of the Lord! Where that rests, thousands are fed; where it is lacking, much more than two hundred pennyworth will never suffice. Recognize that fact, and we shall see a transformation in our work. There will be no more need to manipulate, no more need to dodge; there will be no call for human contriving nor for large, empty speeches, for we shall simply trust God and await His miracle. And where we have already made a mess of things, even there we may find that somehow all is well. A little bit of blessing can carry us over a great deal of trouble.”
The Lord loves to take our insignificant offerings and talents, multiply them and their effect, and bring glory to His Name. Looking in the lines of volunteers in every venue brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. Not many mighty are chosen, all He needs is a little boy and his lunch.
