AWAKENINGS

Heb. 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Have you ever thought about what a spiritual awakening is? Have you thought about it in an individual level? Spiritual awakening is closely related to the definition of faith given in this verse. Basically it is when the things of God, the spiritual realm, become real to you. Paul touched on this in his prayer in Eph. 1:17,18 “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened”. Awakening, or faith, is when your spiritual senses are touched by God so that the things of heaven are alive to you. Your spiritual eyes see His beauty everywhere, your hears are attentive to His voice, and your heart is enflamed with the love of God. Here is how Andrew Murray describes it.
β€œThe writer begins by a general statement of what faith really is in its nature and action. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the proving of things not seen. Faith is the spiritual faculty of the soul which deals with the spiritual realities of the future and the unseen. Just as we have our senses, through which we hold communication with the physical universe, so faith is the spiritual sense or organ through which the soul comes into contact with and is affected by the spiritual world. Just as the sense of seeing or hearing is a dormant power till the objective reality, the light or the sound, strikes it, so faith in itself is a sense with no power beyond the possibility or capacity of receiving the impressions of the eternal. It is as an empty vessel which wants to be filled with its unseen contents. It is only when the eternal realities draw near and exercise their power that faith becomes and is the substance of things hoped for, the foundation which they lay in the soul, the proof or conviction of things unseen, the convincing power with which they give evidence and proof of their own supernatural existence.”
How does awakening come? It is the work of the Holy Spirit moving upon God’s written or spoken word. It is often unexpected but suddenly our blind eyes see and our deaf ears hear. When it happens you know it, you can never return to that other life again.

There is nothing you can say to me to budge me from knowing there is only one God. I have no concrete evidence to prove my belief other then these quantum changes in who I was to who I am am.
