HE SAVES THE BEST FOR LAST!
MERRY MONDAY BY PARRIS BAILEY
“And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.” John 2:10
AHHHH- Summer Saturation happened this week, we have been in nightly meetings for nine straight nights. It does one good just to sit and soak in services night after night. This particular year we invited Joe and Becky Cruse who led our church in revival worship almost 20 years ago in multitudes of meetings. Sunday morning, the moment they begin to sing, tears rolled down my face. Not from sorrow or even wishing “for the good ole days” but from remembering how God swept through our lives and changed us all. As I spanned the vast auditorium I saw so many faces that were here when God showed up and arrested us. (Mind you we are still experiencing his sweet presence!) I saw as if it were an atomic blast that came over us since 1994 and we were left with the residue of that blast in the form of a mantle. Will we run with it? The Lord spoke to me four times this week that “He saves the best for last”. Jesus started His ministry of miracles at this wedding feast. He commanded the servants to “fill the water-pots with water to the brim”, then He turned the water into wine. I believe He was telling the Jewish people that the old was being done away and the new had come. The next verses tell us of Jesus clearing out the temple. Do you realize that the next time we see Jesus will be at the marriage supper of the Lamb? Christ is interceding for His Bride to stay “ready for we do not know the hour”. Yes, the best is ahead for all of us. After getting this verse spoken to me four times during saturation my job is to just “Keep pouring”. My efforts are only water but Christ turns them into wine. When we are discouraged and our dreams seem to have shriveled up on the vine, “keep pouring all the way to the top”. He comes and makes all things new again. Some of us have lost our joy and have resorted to the world’s ways and concepts, but Christ comes again to us and whispers-“the best is yet to come.”
Let’s read from the Interpreter’s Bible; “Do it, though you seem to be but wasting your strength and laying yourself open to the scorn of onlookers, do it though in yourself is no ability to effect what you are aiming at, do it wholly up to the brim as if you were the only worker.” So “whatsoever he sayeth to you do it” this is the secret of miracle working! HE SAVES THE BEST FOR LAST!
