Girdled with a belt of Love!

“Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness. They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side”. (Psalms 65:11, 12)

I tell you I certainly hope you are getting as much and more from your relationship with Christ Himself. I never never dreamed this ole gal could be so happy these some 40 years. Prince charming walked into my life in 1973 and I still find myself drawn into his kisses. (Frank is my Prince Charming #2) “When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.” (Psalms 126:1) Yes, my salvation experience is still rocking my world. I join in with Paul when he too tries to grasp and lasso God’s love, the width, the breath, length and just how deep it is. Today is a good day to continue to stretch our capacity for more of him.
I came across this scripture in my readings and once again find myself drinking of just HIM. Gill breaks it down this way; “The whole circling year, from one end of it to the other; particularly that season of it when the harvest is gathered in; the seed being sown, the earth watered, the springing of it blessed, and the corn brought to perfection, the year is crowned with a plentiful harvest: this may denote the acceptable year of the Lord, the year of the redeemed.” It is the year of the redeemed. He comes to buy back, to restore and bring fatness where there was leanness.
Matthew Henry says wherever God goes he leaves “the tokens of his mercy behind him.” David in Psalm 23 implies that “goodness and mercy will chase us down”. Have you ever been walking and feel his presence all around you?
Gill says; “joy girds the hills”; or “they are girded with joy” {r}; or “gird themselves with joy”, as the Targum; being covered on all sides with grass, herbs, and trees: these may denote the churches of Christ, and little hills of Sion, who rejoice when the interest of Christ flourishes.
Spurgeon says that “each month has a gem, each day a pearl. Unceasing kindness girdles all time with a belt of Love. The voice of nature is articulate to God; it is not only a shout, but a song. Nature has no discords. her airs are melodious, her chorus is full of harmony. All, all is for the Lord, the world is a hymn to the Eternal, blessed is he who, hearing, joins in it, and makes one singer in the mighty chorus.”
Calvin remarks that “no part of the earth is overlooked by God, and that the riches of his liberality extend over all the world.”
You might have the Monday blues when you wake up this morning, but in reality God has colored your world today—-just open up your spiritual eyes!
