LOST SOULS

LOST SOULS

1Tim. 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

The Lord is in the business of saving souls. This truth was totally in meshed in the teaching of the Apostle Paul, after all, he was the chief of sinners. You can hear gratefulness in Paul’s words as he spoke about God’s love for sinners in passages such as “Christ died for the ungodly”, or “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. It became apparent to Paul from his own testimony, that The Lord delights in showing off His glory by changing the worst kind of people. Paul was eaten up with anger toward God’s people, that is equivalent to being angry with God Himself. When Paul experienced for himself the transforming power of God’s grace, he was totally caught by surprise. He was surprised at his own wretchedness which he began to now see, but He was also surprised at God’s relentless love for him. Albert Barnes saw the transforming power of God’s grace, check out his thoughts.

“Let us remember that God has the same power now. There is not a persecutor whom he could not convert with the same ease with which he changed Saul of Tarsus. There is not a vile and sensual man that he could not make pure; not a dishonest man that his grace could not make honest; not a blasphemer that he could not teach to venerate his name; not a lost and abandoned sinner that he cannot receive to himself. Let us, then, without ceasing cry unto him, that his grace may be continually manifested in reclaiming such sinners from the error of their ways, and bringing them to the knowledge of the truth, and to a consecration of their lives to his service.”

The ministry of Jesus was filled with the hardest of cases drinking from this cup of grace. There was the Gadarene demoniac that became a powerful evangelist. Then there was Mary Magdalene, seven devils came out of her as she was liberated from a very dark life. She went on to be the first witness of the resurrection and a prototype of a lover of God. The stories of sinners saved by grace are endless, Zachaeus the tax collector, the thief on the cross, the woman caught in adultery, and who can forget the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well. Jesus came to seek and to save the lost, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Today, He is still seeking the hard cases to display His love.
My wife Parris started a girls rehabilitation program several years ago for this very purpose, to find girls in a troubled life style, bring them into an environment where they can be saturated in God’s love, and watch and see what God does in their lives. They are all experiencing the same love that made the chief of sinners into the chief Apostle. If you are a lost soul today Someone is in hot pursuit, He has a plan of redemption for your life.
