Merry Monday by Parris Bailey

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Heb.11:1

We all live in a world of faith, we just need to make sure it’s the God kind of faith. Every time Frank and I step out in faith it is always just as scary as the first time we ever believed. It wouldn’t be faith if we were totally certain. I thank God for all the years stepping out and watching Him grow big in us. From building on Airline Drive to opening Marysong Restoration center it all has been quite a journey. But let me give you what Martin Luther says about faith. Enjoy!
“Faith is not that human notion and dream that some hold for faith. Faith, however, is a divine work in us. It changes us and makes us to be born anew of God (John 1:13); it kills the old Adam and makes altogether different men, in heart and spirit and mind and powers, and it brings with it the Holy Ghost. O, it is a living, busy, active, mighty thing, this faith; and so it is impossible for it not to do good works incessantly. It does not ask whether there are good works to do, but before the question rises; it has already done them, and is always at the doing of them. He who does not these works is a faithless man. He gropes and looks about after faith and good works, and knows neither what faith is nor what good works are, though he talks and talks, with many words, about faith and good works. Faith is a living, daring confidence in God’s grace, so sure and certain that a man would stake his life on it a thousand times. This confidence in God’s grace and knowledge of it makes men glad and bold and happy in dealing with God and with all His creatures; and this is the work of the Holy Ghost in faith. Hence a man is ready and glad, without compulsion, to do good to everyone, to serve everyone, to suffer everything, in love and praise of God, who has shown him this grace; and thus it is impossible to separate works from faith, quite as impossible as to separate heat and light from fire. Beware, therefore, of your own false notions and of the idle talkers, who would be wise enough to make decisions about faith and good works, and yet are the greatest fools. Pray God to work faith in you; else you will remain forever without faith, whatever you think or do.”
John Piper uses this acronym APTAT when he needs to step out in faith; “Admit you can do nothing without God. Pray for God’s help in the situation, Trust God leaning on His many promises, act on it by faith, than thank Him for taking care of it.” Blessings—-

  1. tthis covers so much! We are praying for my wife with this disease she has, we have been praying for years, we wont stop praying if the Lord takes her thats ok but we will continue, we have been readding on healing and how the lord gave his peopl;e the athority and grace to heal, we have had many battles coming mainly from good meaning beleivers that have almost devastated us, saying where is your God? you are permantly injured and ypour wife is dying,, real nice of them to b e so compasionate! we hasve had to wade threw all this with the Lords help, we know of many that the lord has taken home and we know many the lord has healed. my wife is noyt afaid of dying she knows she will be in a much better place and in Gods presence. at the same time however we can pray for healing in faith, I have had to ask the Lord to help me help my unbeleif. with out faith we cant please him, this we know, so many good meaning people and we have forgave them laid things on us with out seeking the lord an d tryied to just stomp on us when they should have encoraged us, this is ok it goes with the territory people will always do this and we need to get thick skinned and take it all to the lord our friends dont always think and pray before they say things, id ruther be found beleiveing even if it dont turn out the way we had hope for, I know this everything has a reason in the lord even though we may not understand it at the time He is in control Im noyt we dont want to go by the bad doctor reports, none have been good for Alliene, its just a matter of time before she dies and they are saying now it will be in the near future, we all have seen the lord do it even with bad reports, Andrew warrikee had the faith to raise his son from the dead, Jesus did this the early church did this and it still is going on, I want to have this mind in me than all the lifeless negitive thinking, of all is lost, we are in a good place if it goes bad she will be with the lord dying isnt bad not in him but at the same time we want to beleive trhe lord we know He can heal. we have4 asked The Lord many times to heal Alliene, she has been faithful to him sick and all. she tells us His grace is enough and she still ministers to many mostly sick people and alot of women and children, the lord gives her alot of grace to do this and she goes for it, other times she is very ill. the lord has given me grace to still work on my property I have to take alot of breaks and rest my hands the work is getting done not as quick but its still getting there, days im out there i see the lord giving me strenth I know I dont have and im amazed on what was done, He meets us where we are at He knows all our needs before we even ask and he looks at the whole person, physical mental spiritual the whole person and more I have to trust him for my future and not look at what may be going on God sees all that we dont.

  2. Each believer should allow God to use their life that he might be glorified! We should continue to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ until our flesh returns to the dust! Philippians 1:26-30. 2 Timothy 2:3,10. 1 Timothy 1:18-19. Micah 7:6. Jeremiah 9:1-3. Under great attack like Apostle Paul was do my hands write of the importance of Gods wisdom! In Jesus Christ’s name do we have victory over the enemy!
