“Either directly or indirectly, every event has a tendency to the spiritual good of those that love God, breaking them off from sin, bringing them nearer to God, weaning them from the world, fitting them for heaven. They work, as physic works upon the body, various ways, according to the intention of the physician; but all for the patient’s good. They work together, as several ingredients in a medicine concur to answer the intention. It is not from any specific quality in the providences themselves, but from the power and grace of God working in, with, and by, these providences. God hath set the one over against the other (Eccl. vii. 14): synergy, denoting the harmony of Providence and its uniform designs, all the wheels as one wheel, Ezek. 5:13.” Spurgeon

“In prosperity and adversity, whether in things temporal or spiritual, work “together”, and make an intricate woven work in providence and grace.” John Gill

“He hath His way in the whirlwind,” they see “His chariot paved with love” (So 3:10). And knowing that it is in pursuance of an eternal “purpose” of love that they have been “called into the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ” (1Co 1:9), they naturally say within themselves, “It cannot be that He ‘of whom, and through whom, and to whom are all things,’ should suffer that purpose to be thwarted by anything really adverse to us, or that He should not make all things, dark as well as light, crooked as well as straight, to co-operate to the furtherance and final completion of His high design.”. JFB

Barnes says; “And we know with an absolute knowledge that all things are constantly working together, resulting in good for those who are loving God, for those who are called ones according to His purpose.”

Alford comments, “believers as not merely loving God, but being beloved by God. The divine side of their security from harm is brought out, as combining with and ensuring the other. They are sure that all things work for their good, not only because they love Him who worketh all things, but also because He who worketh all things hath loved and chosen them, and carried them through the successive steps of their spiritual life. And we know – This verse introduces another source of consolation and support, drawn from the fact that all flyings are under the direction of an infinitely wise Being, who has purposed the salvation of the Christian, and who has so appointed all things that they shall contribute to it. All our afflictions and trials; all the persecutions and calamities to which we are exposed. Though they are numerous and long-continued yet they are among the means that are appointed for our welfare. They shall cooperate; they shall mutually contribute to our good. They take off our affections from this world; they teach us the truth about our frail, transitory, and lying condition; they lead us to look to God for support, and to heaven for a final home.”

  1. Thanks for shareing this today , im getting more understanding on this very thing this was illistrated nicely sometimes when we are going threw changes in our walk with the Lord we dont always understand every thing at first, but He will show us he never leaves us in the dark for a very long time.

  2. Rom. 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” , Ezek. 5:13 , just sends comfort. When I hear the word is living its like some verses poke me and I cling to them. With Romans 8 :28 it’s such a comfort for me personally with my job situation. Went from operating cranes to building and inspecting them. I had to drop out of bethesda last year cause of my new job. Then I read a blog or heard a sermon about putting ourselves in a position to serve Him more. It wasnt the smartest way of doing things but I just quit my job cause I was never home and missing church. I prayed for a job to be able to make it to church and continue to pursue ministry. Well He gave me a job that suits (Romans 8:28). One of the things I benefit from

    1. this job is a season of a quiet peaceful life I’m clinging to. I’m not involved a lot at church for a season and distance myself from the negative people outside my church family. I’m learning about God in these what I call low secluded places of His comfort. I know its a season of refining and preperation for bigger and better things to come with doors cracking open and me peaking in feeling things out with God. My anxiousnes use to mess me up but patience , watching God prepare me and a comforting verse like Romans 8:28 just keeps bringing the peace.

  3. Amen x 10! This synergy is best expressed when we (like Jesus in His earth-walk) completely yield and only do the works of the Father, only go where He sends us, only speak what He says, and these only in the power of the Holy Spirit. If we do these things (walk in the Spirit) then we will indeed find ourselves abiding in Christ (the Vine) and we the branches which are given the great ministry of (in His power) producing fruit that brings life, grace and love, will see Him glorified. What a privilege! Hallelujah!

  4. Yes, synergy is the word for what I experienced in worship yesterday at Victory Fellowship. The experienced that burned into my psyche was the complexed function of unity in the body of Christ and how when achieved there is nothing God cannot do through us. Synergy, Yes Lord!!

  5. God is the author of the truth! Just as the devil is the author of lies! Psalm 89:14. Numbers 23. Titus 1:1-3. Psalm 83:12-18. God bless you my friends!
