BRINGING BACK THE ARK

BRINGING BACK THE ARK

2 Sam.6:14,15 Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.

This is a striking picture in the Bible, the King of Israel dancing with all his might before the Lord. Why was David dancing? The ark of the covenant had not been amongst God’s people. David was bringing the ark into Jerusalem. Why is that significant? The ark is connected to the power of God’s manifest presence, this was the passion of David’s life. David could not contain his joy as God’s glory was coming into Jerusalem, he had to dance.
This time in Israel can be compared to the overall condition of the local church today. In the overwhelming majority of churches there is no trace of the Shekinah Glory of God. He has been replaced with empowerment teachings, programs, and organizational flow charts. His Glory is seldom seen. The Word of God clearly teaches that the local church’s main purpose is to be a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit that mankind may seek after the Lord. The Bible also declares that there will be a restoration of the power of His presence before the return of our Lord. Graham Truscott spoke of this truth in his book The Power of His Presence. Listen to his powerful prophetic words.

“When we compare the cold formalism, and even the stereotyped evangelical habits of today’s churches (written in 1969) with the miraculous Power of God in action through the first century Church, we must ask ourselves, ‘could anything be more different’? In King David’s day, we see the same situation. The Ark of the Covenant was lost to God’s people. Because of this, they had also lost the Presence, Power, and Glory of the Living God. The Presence of God-the Ark of the Covenant-had to be restored, David by bringing back the Ark of the Covenant, restored the Power of His Presence to Israel. He put the Ark in a Tabernacle, from which the light of the God’s glory, power, victory, and peace shone out to all who came to Mount Zion. This is a Tabernacle that God has promised to restore! A Restoration of the Power of God’s Presence!”

Even though these words were were written many years ago, they are strikingly prophetic in our current world and church situation. Today, the church world does not value His Presence, the emphasis is mostly on how we can live a “better life” now by applying Biblical principles to our lives. How incredibly insensitive! That would be like a wife wanting her husband’s pay check, but not wanting him to live in the house. That is what we have done in our church world, we want His blessings, we just don’t want to be bothered with Him. There will be major changes in the days, months, and years ahead. The current church condition does not describe the church we see in the time of Christ’s appearing. There will be a restoration of the Power of His Presence in the days ahead. This will be a wide spread, world wide movement that will sweep the earth in a short period of time. Times of refreshing are promised, they will prepare the earth for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

  1. so very true. How often we so called churches sound like the feel good motivational speakers. Excuse me, you left something out of your feel good speech…Oh yeah, JESUS!

Thank you for being able to take the ridicule you have for years and not straying from the TRUTH.

  2. We as believers in Jesus Christ are the new dwelling place of God! In times passed he would meet a High priest in what was called the tabernacle! They would offer up a temporary atonement of sin for their transgressions and that of the people. Then the visible sign of Gods presence would meet with the High Priest! We who live in the new testament times are truly blessed!
