Is. 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Have you ever thought about the personal nature of this verse of scripture?
Christ was born for you. The whole reason God sent His Son to the earth was the need in your life. Christ came with you specifically in mind. It wasn’t just for the nameless masses that He came, He came with individuals in mind, He came with you in mind. The angels that made the announcement to the Shepherds brought this out very clearly. Listen to what Martin Luther has to say about that personal nature of the birth of Christ.
“For the gospel teaches that Christ was born for our benefit and that everything he did and suffered was for us. As the angel says here, “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you.” With these words, you can clearly see that he was born for all of us.
The angel doesn’t say, “A Savior was born,” but rather “A Savior has been born to you.” In the same way, he doesn’t say, “I have good news,” but rather “I bring you good news.” For you! “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.” This joy is for everyone who has this kind of faith.”
That is good news!! Like the angels said, “I bring you good news of great joy.” If Christ had you particularly in mind when He came, He still has you particularly in mind today. He loves you deeply and is concerned about the things in your life that trouble you. When Jesus was here on earth, He was moved with people’s pain. He hasn’t changed. He is not some far off God, He is intimately involved in your life today. That is the great message of Christmas. He identified with us. He became one of us. He became a weak, frail human baby. He has experienced personally the pains and joys of human life. He know what it feels like to be loved. He knows what it feels like to be rejected. He has tasted hunger and He has experienced the worst kind of human suffering, the kind that happens at whipping posts and crosses. He knows what it feels like to see a loved one die, He has been there Himself.
So if you are hurting this Christmas remember this, a child was born FOR YOU, a Savior has been born in the city of David FOR YOU. You are not alone no matter how it feels. He is there for you. So this Christmas come again to Bethlehem where the Creator entered His creation and when you do, remember, it was all done JUST FOR YOU.
