And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, “To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.”
And the four living creatures kept saying, “Amen.” And the elders fell down and worshiped.

I will never forget the early days of my Christian walk, it was at God’s Army Seminary of the Bible in Kerman, California. This was not an ordinary Bible School. Sure we had teachers and classes and grades and papers and all the normal school “stuff”, but that is where the similarities ended. This was a Christian community. We lived in “extended households”, we had a “common purse”, we ate our meals together, we prayed together, we worked together, we were experiencing the life of Christ as a true Christian community. It was very tough but that is where I experienced some of the greatest times in my Christian walk. Dietrich Bonhoeffer spoke about Christian community, specifically about worship in his book “Life Together”, here is an excerpt.

“It is God who has prepared one great song of praise throughout eternity, and those who enter God’s community join in this song. It is the song that “the morning stars sang together and all the children of God shouted for joy” (Job 38:7). It is the victory song of the children of Israel after passing through the Red Sea, the Magnificat of Mary after the Annunciation, the song of Paul and Silas when they praised God in the darkness of prison, the song of the singers on the sea of glass after their deliverance, the “song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb” (Rev. 15:3). It is the new song of the heavenly community. Every day in the morning the community of faith on earth joins in this song and in the evening it closes the day with this hymn. The triune God and the works of God are being extolled here. This song has a different sound on earth that in does in heaven. On earth, it is the song of those who believe; in heaven, the song of those who see.”

Worship is happening in heaven, what else can you do when you behold His glory? As we come together in community, in the true fellowship of Christians, we begin to experience corporate worship, a taste of the heavenly ecstasy that will be ours soon. You can tell a lot about your spiritual condition by your worship experience with others. Worshipping with your spiritual family is as close as we get to the kingdom here on earth. This is the place where Jesus prayer is fulfilled, “Let your kingdom come, let your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”.

  1. April 3, 2005; the day that marked the introduction of a whole new area of my Christian walk. The radical changes in my life were already in high gear, all starting at that moment my soul cried out to God for forgiveness, 01/24/2010, 7:15 PM! Oh Yeah – I describe that moment as when He touched the top of my head and His peace overcame me. I was aware of a whole other spectrum of reality; I was aware of God, Himself.
On April 3, 2005, I walked into the foyer of Victory fellowship. I can point to the spot I was standing when that awareness of God once again overwhelmed me. It stopped me in my tracks long enough for my soul to identify this was His children worshipping Him. This was new to me and caught me totally off guard! Then I jumped in and never looked back.
I have come to learn that it was not the songs or the lights or any other environmental condition but rather the condition of the hearts of His children gathered in one place together. It was souls radically touched by God and longing for Him. It is that response to His presence – an orchestra of souls singing the unique song specifically made and placed in each of His children.
My grandfather died long before I accepted Christ. Oh how he prayed for me. If I could do only one thing with Him now, it would be to go worship God together. Hang on Gramps I’m coming!!!!!!!

  2. CORRECTION! Sorry, I put in a wrong date. it should read – The radical changes in my life were already in high gear, all starting at that moment my soul cried out to God for forgiveness, 01/24/2005, 7:15 PM!

  3. It has been my experience, more so in the last year, as I have decided to allow God to free me from feeding with the pigs of this world. I know my choices are what put me in front of that feeding trough, much like the prodigal son. That my worship before God although in the past has been personal and intimate, now has entered a new place. To my surprise it is much more personal and intimate, it has become as my bible tells me a secret place, where I become washed over with waves of His presence. I now know why I’m having this deeper experience, because I decided if I’m going to die to this life and allow Jesus to really be my Lord, that everything I do I must give my best effort in, which means in worship, its not O.K. to be distracted, as I was in the past (other random thoughts interrupting,or opening my eyes to see who is around me) I know God is there for me to come to, I must get myself to Him, and when I determine thats what I want, what or who can stop me but myself. True deep worship has changed me, my heart, my interests and my priorities

  4. Today my Faith was again strengthened by hearing the miraculous testimony of a Christian sister, who was innocently being cruelly persecuted by evildoers at her employ, and was miraculously protected from such evil intentions by the intervention of the Holy Spirit through the testimony of another Christian sister to the headmaster who did not know of the evil his employees were doing.

The Lord provides us through the Holy Spirit the awesome Power of Christian Fellowship which can overcome any and all evil instantaneously.

All Praise and Thanks to the Love of the Father, the Mercy of His Son and Our Savior Jesus Christ and to the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit. In His Light and Love, Curiousgeorge

  5. To Mark Planchard: Brother Mark I believe there will be a large choir of out of tune relatives joining you and Gramps in singing a favorite, tear producing song, namely “Amazing Grace.”

This past Father’s Day at St. Angela Merici that was the song which was played and it being Gramps favorite, singing it struck me down in joyful Spiritual tears.

    Thank you Jesus and I can’t promise you a well tuned choir but we will be V E R Y L O U D !!!!! Hallelujah !!!!!!!!!
