It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones, to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him”.
Jude 14,15

You never hear much about Enoch’s prophesy, but it is recorded in the word of God in the book of Jude. Enoch was a very interesting character in the Bible. He was actually translated, taken instantly and physically, into heaven. His prophesy is a description of the Second Coming of Christ, the redeemed from every tribe and tongue are with Him as He returns to the earth to execute His justice and judgement. Enoch’s life was all about the return of Christ. He is the first example of a “rapture” in the Bible, he was transported to heaven by the Spirit. What can we learn from Enoch? Actually, his life itself is a prophetic word to the church of the last days. We can see from the mentions of his life in the scripture how to prepare ourselves for the coming of the Lord.
We first see Enoch in Genesis 5:24, “Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.”
Enoch walked with God, what a simple yet profound truth. That is what the Lord has looked for ever since the days Adam walked with God in the garden. After Adam sinned, he lost that fellowship with his Father, Adam no longer walked with God. Now, the Lord had someone else who would walk with Him. Walking with God, having an intimate relationship with God is what we learn from Enoch. The next time we see Enoch is in Hebrews 11:5,6; “By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; AND HE WAS NOT FOUND BECAUSE GOD TOOK HIM UP; for he obtained the witness that before his being taken up he was pleasing to God. And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”
Enoch taught us to walk by faith. We learn from him that faith pleases God. What is faith and how do we get it? Well faith is a gift that comes to us by the grace of God, it is the fruit of having a living relationship with God. Faith is the supernatural ability to perceive the reality of unseen things. Enoch tasted the unseen world, he embraced it, and God was pleased. as a result, Enoch was caught up into heaven. There is a day coming when God’s sons and daughters will be caught up into heaven. How can we be ready? We have to walk with God by faith.

  1. The two most notable Old Testament people who epitomize walking in Faith in my mind were Joseph and Jobe . They allowed themselves to be persecuted and tested through many undeserving injustices yet they never did doubt God’s love nor did they abandon their walk with God nor stop their constant Praises of Him.
