“In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
Lk. 17:31-33

Recently I heard a sermon by Billy Graham on the radio entitled “Remember Lot’s wife”. It was a powerful message full of deep concern about the course our country and our churches have taken in the past few years. He compared our society today to the sinful culture that had developed in Sodom. Over and over he called for the lost, as well as church members, to flee “Sodom” and to never look back. He reminded us of the warning the Lord had given to Lot and his family and how Lot’s wife looked longingly back at Sodom, remembering the life of earthly pleasures there. Jesus Himself warned us of the attachment the world can have on us and reminded us to “remember Lot’s wife”. Today, the pull of the world is strong, all of its pleasures and attractions are calling out for our affections, we have to remember the warnings and decide to never look back. Jonathan Edwards preached a message on what he called ” The Folly of Looking Back in Fleeing Out of Sodom” . He reminds us of the warnings of God’s ministers as well as the angels, reminding us of the danger of looking back to our former manner of life.
“We are warned by messengers sent to us from God to make haste in our fleeing from Sodom, and not to look behind us. God sends his ministers, the angels of the churches, on this errand to us, as he sent the angels to warn Lot and his wife to flee for their lives; “and when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city”. After we have had such forewarning, if we delay or look back after this, we shall be exceedingly inexcusable and monstrously foolish.”
We should all heed the words of God’s messengers, the warnings of Billy Graham, Jonathan Edwards, and the Lord Jesus Himself. Our world is in moral collapse. Whatever happened to Lot’s wife? After she looked back, she was turned into a pillar of salt. The judgement on Sodom got on her. This is why we are warned to flee from the wrath to come, judgement is coming upon this generation. “REMEMBER LOT’S WIFE”.

  1. thios reminds me of the church in revelations that left their first love i really think we are living in a age where many churches have done this and it is so easy for many to fall into this trap if we check where we are every day if we love the lord and our brothers and sisters ask the lord daily to live and please him the world doesnt look so attractive it cant even compare to the lord many of us came to him because the world and every thing in it left us empty i dont want to forget what the lord took me out of but at the same time not dweel on it but mmove on if we love the world the love of god will get clouded out i ask the lord all the time to show me when anything is trying to pull me or my broters and sisters away we are suppost to exhort each other dailly point each other to the lord by exannnnnple our lives can measure up if we stay close to the lord dont look at the world and all that is in it i formyselve want to here the lord say well done enter my kingdom some he will say i knew you not go scary stuff i honestly beleive if we keep our eyes on him our hearts have that first love and we love our brothers and sisters we will be kept but if we have one foot in the world one foot halve heartedly seeking the lord we wont be able to stand in that day also we would be very ripe for deception i pray non of usfall into this god has too much love for us all Randy

  2. These scriptures came to mind as I read this post:
phil 3:13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
phil 3:18-19 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame— who set their mind on earthly things.

  3. The Lord’s grace is endlessly sufficient being once saved by His Precious Blood. However, to grieve His Holy Spirit after being reborn in the Spirit could result in a very dry,Spiritless life here and hereafter. In the Lord’s Light and Love, Dan frisard
