BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
19 the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled,* for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
Peter was embarassed and afraid. He had denied the Lord in the time of crisis. He felt like his ministry and leadership were over. That first Easter night Jesus came and met with Peter and the apostles, behind closed doors. Instead of a rebuke Peter received forgiveness, acceptance , love, and a new commission. He also received the Holy Spirit. What a day!!! That day Peter’s life started all over again. Jesus was alive!!! Peter was forgiven!!! He had to let everyone know about this gracious Savior. Peter had a testimony and wanted to tell the world. Have you had a private meeting with Jesus. He wants to come to you behind closed doors. One moment alone with Jesus will change everything. You may feel empty, lonely, afraid, or may be struggling with depression. You are not alone. Every man or woman of God before you has faced the same feelings. The only difference between you and them, Jesus walked into the room. Go ahead, close the door. I think Jesus is coming your way.
